I grew up in the rural Midwest surrounded by fields, blue sky, and a multitude of animals. I became a keen observer with a big imagination. Books helped me learn about the world and transported me to fantastical places I only dreamed of. Many nights, I would fall asleep with my own stories dancing in my head. Though I loved to read and create stories, writing wasn’t always my favorite subject in school. It wasn’t until high school when my love of writing began to take flight – thanks to an amazing English teacher. After college, I wore many hats – a researcher, a teacher, and an audiologist. Most of the writing I did during those years was scientific and methodical in a “just the facts, ma’am” kind of way.
When my own children arrived, I rediscovered my love of creative writing. I also loved reading story after story with them and watching them share stories with each other. Slowly with time, my love of writing came back and it hasn’t slept since.
With heart and humor, I love observing our amazing world and using my imagination to create stories.
I live in central Iowa with my family including two mischievous, yet always lovable pups, named Luigi and Lucie.
